ForestEffect Fund invested in Opus Insights in 2018, partnering with the management of Opus to drive improved forecasting of key agri-commodities in the tropics.
Opus forecasts the tropics by creating intelligent, data driven solutions to soft commodity supply chain challenges. The crop and geography specific tools built by Opus offer insights to stakeholders in sectors including cashew, cocoa, and coffee, bringing yield, quality and post harvest loss projections to the market.
Opus works with multiple stakeholders in the agricultural sector for whom decision making, forecasting and planning is increasingly important to sustainability, viability and profit. Combining a range of environmental ground sensors, remote sensor data and field observations in its models, Opus’ products and services are uniquely impactful at every level of the supply chain.
With an initial focus on Africa, the vision of Opus is to increase forecasting capabilities throughout the tropics whilst building the capacity of all - from producer to retailer - to adapt, respond and build resilience in the face of climate change and less predictable weather patterns.
